UX Strategy, Research, and Design Consultant
I help early stage teams align on product definition and launch.
As a Product Manager, I was impressed by Kyle's quick grasp of our business needs and his unique ability to manage both the long-term vision and the intricate details of our database structure... he consistently demonstrated a deep understanding of our business objectives and adeptly worked within our technical constraints without sacrificing user value.
I had the pleasure of working with Kyle to launch reporting functionality for our B2B AI product. As a Product Manager, I was impressed by Kyle’s quick grasp of our business needs and his unique ability to manage both the long-term vision and the intricate details of our database structure. Throughout our collaboration, he consistently demonstrated a deep understanding of our business objectives and adeptly worked within our technical constraints without sacrificing user value.
Beyond his technical abilities, Kyle’s collaborative nature made him a vital part of our team. He worked effectively across both product and engineering teams, fostering a cooperative atmosphere that boosted our productivity. His proactive communication style and ability to engage with multiple stakeholders streamlined the translation of UX/UI designs into development tasks.
Kyle also made significant contributions beyond his designated responsibilities, notably championing a phased design system that enhanced both our visual consistency and development efficiency. His strategic approach to the rollout of this system ensured it complemented our evolving processes without causing disruptions.
Working with Kyle has been highly rewarding. His consistent delivery of high-quality work, along with his adaptability and strategic acumen, make him an exceptional UX designer. I strongly recommend Kyle to any team looking for UX support!
Kyle has a vast array of experience, and is clearly driven by curiosity on how to improve interactions between users of tech products and their creators.
Kyle is highly adaptable and can perform a lot of different functions at high quality. He works across multiple tracks of work collaborating with different stakeholders. His understanding of agile enabled him to balance innovative design with the flexibility to adapt to changing requirements—a must in our fast-paced startup.
I hired Kyle as a contract designer while I was working as the VP of Engineering and Product at an early-stage startup. What started as a three-month contract to assist with our product backlog grew into a 10-month (and still going) engagement thanks to the significant value he brought to the team. He was a key resource for us establishing new practices in UX design at a time when the organization was undergoing a lot of change.
Kyle is highly adaptable and can perform a lot of different functions at high quality. His high degree of organization made it possible for us to have him work across multiple tracks of work collaborating with different stakeholders. His understanding of agile enabled him to seamlessly integrate design deliverables into our workflow, balancing innovative design with the flexibility to adapt to changing requirements—a must in our fast-paced startup.
Kyle’s ability to understand and work within complex database requirements is rare among designers. One of Kyle’s key projects involved developing detailed reporting visualizations for highly complex datasets that would bring a lot of value to our B2B customers. He demonstrated remarkable skill utilizing the provided database schema to infer meaningful data patterns, have rich collaborative conversations with engineers, and translate intricate schemas into actionable and intuitive visualizations. He invented patterns that surprised even me! He then rigorously refined these designs to ensure that the visualizations were user-friendly and effectively communicated dense information and worked closely with our PM to break them down into user stories for our backlog in a way that balanced customer value with engineering efficiency. It was some of the most thoughtful and innovative deliveries I’ve seen.
Kyle was an advocate for introducing a robust design system for our organization—articulating the benefits of the system not only for visual design coherence, but (importantly for us) for improving development efficiency. Critically for us, he rolled out the design system with a phased approach that ensured it enhanced our workflow without impeding development. This included both the technical and social aspects of the rollout—thinking through not only the way that things should be oriented in Figma, but also how different people in the organization could use it. This included collaborating closely with our UI Architect to make sure that design and engineering were perfectly aligned and moving forward together.
Kyle’s speed, accuracy, and ease of engagement distinguish him as a top performer. He consistently delivered high-quality work with minimal context, and loves the hard challenges.
This is my second time working with Kyle and each time I’m so impressed with his ability to manage complex design tasks and deliver real value on every project. I highly recommend him for roles requiring expertise in rapid, precise, and flexible design execution.
Kyle is very adaptable. Startups like ours need people who can pivot very quickly to the business' changing direction or needs. Kyle quickly transitions between strategic and tactical work which has been key to our success. He's helped ground our ideas (good and bad!) in the customer's needs and practices
I’ve had the privilege of working closely with Kyle at Rebind. He’s been a key team member in helping us achieve our vision.

If you’re looking for someone who brings not just design expertise but also a thoughtful, strategic, and collaborative mindset to the table, I can’t recommend Kyle highly enough. He has been an absolute pleasure to work with, and his contributions have left a lasting mark on our product and our team.
Kyle is an incredible resource. I hired him to help us fix a badly broken UX/UI model and what I got was excellent App product strategy, consumer needs understanding, UX/UI definitions, engineer project and task management and delivery of an outstanding result.
I had the pleasure of working with Kyle on a design research project in Nairobi for an international client to understand people's personal finances, and he is a talented UX researcher with a wealth of knowledge and experience.
I had the pleasure of working with Kyle on a design research project in Nairobi for an international client to understand people’s personal finances, and he is a talented UX researcher with a wealth of knowledge and experience.
A meticulous researcher, he ensured that the project was thoroughly researched and the insights were based on solid data.
In addition to being an excellent communicator, he is capable of distilling complex research findings into clear, concise reports and presentations.
I highly recommend Kyle for any design research role and am confident that he will excel in whatever challenge he takes on next.
He pushes for excellence and insight, ensuring that research endeavors result in not just reports, but perspective; and that design processes move from insights into directive opportunities.
At his core, Kyle is equally at home poring over research and developing frameworks from complexity, or riding a motorbike out to the coastline with his camera. He studies the universe with a deep and constant drive to inquire, engage, and complicate with the matters of the world. This makes him the unequivocal researcher, designer, and strategist that he is. He pushes for excellence and insight, ensuring that research endeavors result in not just reports, but perspective; and that design processes move from insights into directive opportunities.
As colleagues, we have collaborated on projects across emerging markets in Africa and Asia, particularly at the intersections of finance, micro-small business & entrepreneurship, and digital behaviors and opportunities. While he excels with any subject or field, he brings long-standing experience and a particular passion and intellect around these domains. As a seasoned end-to-end researcher & design strategist, he operates seamlessly across the lifecycle: whether shadowing and interviewing micro-small business owners; conceptualizing complex mental models and economic flows into frameworks; or designing and facilitating workshops to support product managers generate creative, strategic, and actionable product concepts rooted in qualitative insights. Furthermore, he is a natural design coach: often found guiding project and client teams through sensemaking processes, or providing mentorship to researchers and designers across various experience levels.
Those with the opportunity to collaborate with Kyle can trust he will show up in excellence, for any project or team.
Kyle was not just a contributor but a true strategic partner. Unlike many specialists, Kyle's versatility shone through his ability to seamlessly navigate these areas, proving invaluable during our product's early development process.
I've engaged Kyle as a consultant at Guidea Design to support our clients in the early stages of product ideation and definition. His skills as a researcher, strategist, and designer and his high level of client-facing professionalism make it easy for us to call on him when we need more support in these areas.
Kyle provided a pair of engaging presentations that helped our design and strategy team understand how new paradigms in web3 may reshape user experiences (and the industry that creates them). What sets Kyle apart is his ability to break down complex concepts in understandable explanations and identify pragmatic strategic implications. In our case, that means helping us understand not only how user experiences will evolve in web3, but also how a UX strategy and design consultancy like ours would sell work in new types of business environments. Kyle provides us with a valuable perspective for thinking about the future of the UX industry, and we look forward to continue working with him.

I would absolutely work with him again and look forward to learning more from him in the future.
Kyle's ability to quickly ramp up on complex topics in Web3 and cryptocurrency enabled him to fluently build rapport with industry participants in ways that revealed the human stories underneath. In synthesis, he is able to work at multiple levels of depth with a topic to understand implications from the the minute level of individual experience to the broader systemic ways trends affect communities, industries and societies.
When we started Crypto Research and Design Lab (CRADL), our founding partner, Lauren Serota, said we have to bring in Kyle Becker. She had worked with him in Burma and spoke about the extensive experience synthesizing insights from qualitative research and articulating them in compelling, actionable ways. And she was right - he was a key leader on our design research team.
With a background that combines UX research, tech product development, and business strategy, Kyle brings a broad view to the topics he researches. At CRADL in particular, his ability to quickly ramp up on complex topics in Web3 and cryptocurrency enabled him to fluently build rapport with industry participants in ways that revealed the human stories underneath. In synthesis, he is able to work at multiple levels of depth with a topic to understand implications from the the minute level of individual experience to the broader systemic ways trends affect communities, industries and societies.
Kyle was an inspiration to the junior members of our team who learned a lot from him about the design research and how to articulate insights in more compelling and clear ways through frameworks and storytelling. It was amazing to watch their skills and confidence develop as they worked on the projects that he led. If you have a chance to bring Kyle onto your team - do it!

I help product teams explore new ideas
Experience Strategy (also known as UX Strategy) is a strategic approach to product definition. It is a series of techniques that help teams quickly iterate on new ideas and get aligned on what to build, including:
- Product Strategy sessions with the team and outside stakeholders to understand what the organization can build.
- Customer research with existing or potential customers.
- Early-stage prototyping for user feedback, investor conversations, and internal alignment.
- Streamlined integration with product/ UI/UX designers who will carry projects through detailed implementation. I focus on being a partner to (often very busy) product managers to help them develop robust strategies for their organizations.
